The Impromptu Character workshop
with Stephane Cornicard

The VoiceOver Network brings you this two day workshop focusing on the process involved in developing credible, precise and inhabited characters. Learn how to “step” into character.

  • Do you want to learn how to step into a character with confidence?
  • Are you interested in creating characters that are believable?
  • Do you want to develop the skills to move from one character to the next, learning to trust your instinct?

Photo of Stephane Cornicard running a character workshop at our GET YOUR GAME ON event in April 2016 at Red Bull Studios, London.

This “safe place” workshop aims to train the very particular set of muscles and thought processes involved in creating characters. Through improvisation and borrowing from various methods and systems, you will learn to move from character to character, from emotion to emotion and from genre to genre, giving you more confidence to approach and create “impromptu” characters, and a better control of the process.

“Insightful and Inspirational. Stephane is full of knowledge and tips.” Natalie Chisholm

This 2 day workshop will be for those wanting to stretch and explore their acting skills.

It is for voiceover artists and voice actors of all abilities. So whether you are an experienced professional or at the start of your career you are welcome on this course.

“I learnt so much and it honestly left me hungry for more! The way he can coax out that but more to get the best out of your best was astounding to witness.” Adam Dergiman

Stephane Cornicard is a consummate actor and director. He is able to help the actor produce clear concise and conceivable characters. His experience and knowledge is second to none and you have a hell of a time doing it along the way. What a generous artist.” Dianne Weller

This will be a jam packed weekend of learning and all attendees will come away from this workshop with knowledge, confidence and skills.

Vocal Extreme Workshop with Yvonne Morley

Please not you must have attended Day 1 Vocal Intensive workshop in order to be able to attend this course.

Do you want to learn to scream, shout, laugh, cry and sustain those intense moments for delivery to the microphone?

As voiceover artists and voice actors we are often required to push our voices especially when working in video games, animations, audiobooks and radio drama's. It's so important to do this safely and this is what Yvonne will teach you. The last thing you want is to be in one session and then not be able to continue working in your next session due to pushing your voice to hard.

This is a one day practical workshop for those with some degree of pre-existing voice training. Attendance on one of the earlier Vocal Intensive days is necessary to create a level of vocal fitness to make the most of the skills that will be taught. The day will be spent steadily building techniques for authentic delivery of emotionally-heightened voice work. Yvonne has developed her approach over many years, designed to keep artists safe while delivering work that looks and sounds like the real thing, without damaging voices into the bargain.

Yvonne will work through essential skills to developed advanced support for the voice. The day will progress from the essential ground-work to more and more demanding skills. At any point participants can choose to observe if their previous voice training isn’t sufficient to participate in some aspect of the work or other.

The day will also include how to do a “cool down” - an often neglected aspect.

"So... how's my voice 24hrs after 'Vocal Extreme' with Yvonne Morley? Well you'll be pleased to know that it's in fine condition! A day learning how to roar like a lion with just a purr of a kitten was really exhausting and exhilarating in equal measure. It's highly recommended, but make sure you have done the the 'Vocal Intensive' training first as it builds on the basics. The big take-away... watch out for the 'Great White Shark' and mark up appropriately... You need to do the course to find out what that's all about, I'm saying nothing!" - Roger Woods

Handouts will be provided.

Date: Saturday 22nd April 2017

Lunch will be provided
Price:  £149 members price, £179 non members price, Earlybird members price is £129 (first 24 hours)

This is going to be a full day event all about video games. We are very excited to have partnered up with UKIE for this incredible event.

UKIE are the only trade body for the UK's games and interactive entertainment industry.

Video Games are one of the most if not THE most exciting industries in the world right now.

There are plenty of video game conferences but this is the only one that is focused on the audio and voice acting side of things.

Last year we ran our first GET YOUR GAME ON event and it was a massive success so this year it will be BIGGER AND EVEN BETTER!

This is a full day event for voice actors, producers, game developers, casting directors and sound designers to come together to talk about the audio side of video games.

We have lined up some incredible speakers, excellent workshops and amazing networking opportunities.

Speakers include -
• Dave Fennoy, Voice actor
• Mark Estdale, casting director and owner of OMUK
• Adele Cutting, director and owner of Soundcuts
• Yvonne Morley, Vocal coach
• Rob Yescombe,
• Steve Brown, Audio director
• Andy Walsh, award winning writer
• Stephane Cornicard, director and voice actor
• Sam Hughes, sound designer, voice actor and owner of The Sound Architect
and more.

The morning will be all about the inspiring talks aimed at voice actors as well as producers and game developers.

In the afternoon we will break into smaller groups for workshops. These will be about performing in games as well as script writing, directing and more. So whether you are a voice actor or a developer or producer there will be something for everyone.

As well as the amazing speakers, brilliant workshops, networking opportunities and drinks we will also be running a GAME JAM!

The Game Jam will be for Game developers and voice actors to come together to create a game from scratch over 48 hours. This will happen the weekend before the event and the games will be presented at GET YOUR GAME ON 2017 and the winner will be announced. Details of how to enter the Game Jam will be announced next week.
